No! They Make Me Sick

Seldom do you find expecting mothers eating healthy food. This is the reason , prenatal vitamins are prescribed. Expecting mothers need nutritional diets , to stay nourished and to help developing babies from getting spinal bifida.

Prenatal vitamins have more folic acid; calcium; and iron. Folic acid is good in helping to prevent neural defects in the tube. Iron is needed due to the increased need for more blood. The mother may become anemic due to the baby needing more blood to survive and develop. Mothers need a lot of minerals and vitamins to stay healthy during pregnancy. Babies tend to drain their mothers of all their energy and strength during the pregnancy. Vitamins don’t replace a healthy diet.

Mothers need Vitamin C to help prevent infection during pregnancy. The little baby growing inside the mother need Vitamin C to help in developing healthy bone growth and teeth. Tissue repair is aided by Vitamin C.

General growth is contributed to Vitamin D. This is why mothers need to drink plenty of milk. The baby needs Vitamin D to help in building strong bones and teeth.

Vitamin B helps to develop the brain of the baby. The heart and nervous system depends on this vitamin. Babies developing muscles start to mature while absorbing Vitamin B.

The DNA ; red blood cells and brain depend on folic acid.

Vitamin A helps develop cell growth. It is known to help both the mother and the unborn baby. After the baby is born , Vitamin A helps to repair the damaged tissues in the mother.

The little heart beat and the skeletal system is aided by copper. The nervous system and hair growth are essentially part of the mineral copper. Arteries and blood vessels can be traced to the mineral copper.

The adrenal and growth metabolism is traced back to the antithetic acid . Baby growth made be slowed if a lack of antithetic acid is not present. It also helps in preventing stretch marks on the abdomen of the mother.

There are many child baring mothers that can’t take prenatal vitamins. Doctors have been known to prescribe Flintstones vitamins to help expecting mothers during pregnancy. It makes no difference whether a mother wants to take the vitamins or not, the baby depends on the nourishment from the mother and the vitamins she takes.

Bring a healthy baby into the world. Take your prenatal vitamin. You will be proud that you did.

Take Care Of Those Designer Shoes

While some people see shoes as simply a need or a tool for walking and running, others would regard it as an investment especially if they are designer shoes. Undeniably, designer shoes cost more than regular ones but comfort and good looks come with them. It is always a guarantee that when you purchase designer shoes, you are buying a pair of superior quality. Thus, it is of utmost importance to take care of them since it has all the potential to be used for years and years to come as well as be paired off with different clothes not just for today but also in the future.

In taking care of the shoes, you must bear in mind that there are certain compounds that shoes can’t stand through time such as water and stains. So to guard your shoes from those destructive elements, you will need to purchase a formula (a stain or water repellant for example) that’s built to protect them from being ruined. You can buy it in a bottle and you’d have to spray it on your shoes regularly.

You should also think about preventing the depreciation of your shoes especially if you wear them quite very often. You must consider calling in to the nearest shop for shoe repairing. You’ll never know if your shoes need to have new taps and soles. Don’t worry about paying for a couple of bucks for the service. Think of it as an investment as years are added to your shoes’ lifetime.

Then most importantly, here’s what you can always do on your end. Don’t forget to clean your shoes regularly. The cleaning procedure varies with the type of shoe material though. Do not do anything if you’re unsure of what to do or better yet, do some research first. Here are a couple of tips for you. If it’s leather, it’s suggested that you use leather lotion to make it smooth and shiny. If it’s suede, you are urged to brush it although you would have to use a special kind of brush for this. If the shoes are made of fabric, keep them from getting stains by applying stain-preventing formulas. But if you’re not sure what kind of material your shoes are made of, consult with the nearest shoe shop. There are certain kinds of leather or material that needs extra care or attention. Certain tools may need to be inserted somewhere so as to keep the original form of the shoe. This will definitely lengthen the life of your shoes by half a decade.

Easy Ways To Stay Healthy

Everyone has a unique medical history and different physical ailments however, there are a few things everyone can do to keep themselves healthy. For starters, make sure you get an annual physical examination and stock and maintain your medicine chest.

Today the “annual physical” is becoming more and more routine. Every year more people see the wisdom of “seeing your doctor before you get sick.”

Most health authorities are in agreement that a good physical examination should include, first of all, a complete medical history of the patient and pertinent medical information about his family. Usually your personal physician - or the group or clinic to which you go - takes such a history on your first visit.

The physical examination itself may vary from doctor to doctor or group to group. Sometimes the complete examination is given at one time. Other doctors may prefer two or three visits to complete the checkup.

The following routine is frequently recommended for a complete annual checkup:

The medical history; blood pressure, pulse, temperature; examination of body for growths and swellings; ear, eye, nose, throat, and mouth examinations; heart and lungs (by stethoscope and tapping); examination of male organs; rectum check; examination of female organs and Pap smear (to check for cancer), breast examination; check of reflexes (hammer test); blood tests; urine analysis; chest X-ray; electrocardiogram; stool specimen.

Such an examination generally covers the general health of the patient and checks for heart and circulatory disorders; cancer and other abnormalities; nervous defects; infections; tuberculosis, diabetes, ulcers, anemia, and other diseases that may be present.

You medicine chest is also very important. The adequately supplied home medicine chest actually is composed of two segments. One consists of equipment and supplies usually pertinent to first-aid treatment. The other segment usually consists of a few household aids for treatment of illnesses.

Check lists for medicine chests are numerous. Most of them are carefully researched and authoritatively recommended. All of them are similar to the point of being almost identical.

A survey of the many lists and the suggestions of doctors and other sources of authoritative information will yield most of the following check points for your medicine cabinet.

However, as a general rule your medicine cabinet should include absorbent cotton, adhesive bandages, adhesive tape, antiseptic cream (for scrapes, burns, cuts), burn ointment, cotton swabs, roll bandages, spirits of ammonia ampules, S-shaped airway (for artificial respiration), sterile gauze pads, Universal antidote (for poisoning - from your druggist.)

To keep your medicine cabinet in good shape, check out these words of wisdom:

- Check prescriptions you keep.

- Tablet preparations usually are good until they show signs of disintegration.

- Solutions usually are usable as long as they remain clear, unchanged in color and free of residue.

- Suspensions last a long time. Always shake well before using.

- Vitamins and wonder drugs are better off in the refrigerator. Keep all these drugs in a dry, cool place and out of bright light.

- Throw away any bottle with the label missing. Date labels when purchased, note what the medicine is for, and for whom.

- Check with your druggist about stability of medicines about which you may be doubtful.

- Keep the medicine cabinet out of reach of children.

Neglecting good medicine cabinet maintenance could result in you or one of your family members getting sick. Since the entire point of having a medicine cabinet is wellness, pay attention to what’s sitting on your bathroom shelf.

Local Waitress Rocks Criminal World

Megan is waitress in a local restaurant. She has 2 young kids. She gets paid a small salary, but she mostly relies on tips to make ends meet. Most of the people in the town know her situation and goes out of their way to help. They often leave her generous tips, which she appreciates very much.

She puts them in her purse until closing. Megan enjoys occasionally meeting new people in the restaurant and chatting with the regulars. She can not afford a car of her own, so she calls a taxi to get back and forth to work. She calls the taxi around closing time and waits for it on the sidewalk.

One evening she was about to leave for the day. She waited on her taxi in the usual spot. She stood there with her purse on her shoulder. She was grateful, it had been a good day for tips. She was finally on her way home to see her children. Megan thought she would do something special for them with the tip money.

Unknowing to her somebody else was watching her and all the tips she received. Out of the blue a man came running toward her. He grabbed her purse. She let go of the purse and it fell to the ground. She was a little dazed from the attack. The man came back to pickup the purse, but she got to it first. She grabbed it by the straps and started swinging it.

It hit the man in the jaw like a ton of bricks. He fell to the ground. He was so stunned that he got up and ran in the opposite direction. Megan was shocked, that she could deliver such a hit with a purse. Then she remembered the painted rock she always carried in her purse. A friend had given it to her for good luck and she carried it everywhere.

She went back inside the restaurant and called the police. She reported the incident but the man was never captured. Megan stills work in the restaurant. Somewhere there is a criminal with a broken jaw. She is more observant of her surroundings. She still carries the rock inside her purse for protection and luck.

Now it is more of a good luck symbol than ever. Purse snatchers are criminals of opportunity. They hang around looking for people who they think will make good victims. You should never risk injury over the contents of your purse. If you wear your purse across your shoulders and the strap does not give when it is snatched, you may be hurt.

Carry your purse close to your body to make it less of a target. While purse snatching is mostly a crime of petty thieves it can escalate. The best way to prevent purse snatching is not to wear a purse at all. If you are attacked report the incident to local police. Always have a self defense strategy in mind in case of emergency.

Principal Uses Board To Get Students Expelled

Mitzie is a schoolteacher at a local high school. She enjoys interacting with the students and faculty very much. Despite the numerous problems in the school, she believes she is making a difference in their lives. She endures some verbal abuse from some of the students. Sometimes a few of the parents give her problems. All in all, she is satisfied with her work. For the past several weeks, there has been a growing feud between 2 of her students.

It was getting so bad, that they could not lay eyes on each other without starting a fight. Mitzie was charged with keeping these 2 under surveillance, so they would not hurt each other. One time, she even had to call security. They both resented her for calling security. It usually meant they would be expelled. They had already been expelled several.

In the past when they returned to school, everything went well for about a week. Then they were back at it again. The principal was growing tired of this problem. He took their case to the Board of Education. He asked for the right to expel them for the year if they fought again. The board agreed with his intended actions. A couple of weeks passed with no problems. Then in third week another fight broke out between the 2.

Mitzie called security and they were hauled to the principals office. They were expelled for the year. They were furious. They blamed the principal, but mostly they blamed Mitzie. The next week Mitzie arranged an outing for the class at the local skating rink. It was a way for her students to blend with other students. She arrived at the rink. She drove up to the parking lot.

She parked next to a van with tinted windows. She got out of her vehicle and turned her back to lock it. At that moment, the door of the van slid open and someone grabbed her. She struggled to get free. She twisted and turned, but the attacker held on. While she was trying to escape, 3 of her student coordinators drove up. The attacker saw them and released his grip. She turned and looked in the attackers face.

It was one of the students she had been expelled. He quickly closed the van door and drove off. The other students quickly called police and reported the incident. The student was located and arrested for assault and attempted kidnapping. Mitzie still teaches at the school, but is extra careful to beware of her surroundings.

Parking next to vans and big trucks can be dangerous. They offer excellent cover for someone trying to commit a crime. If you turn your back to one of these vehicles, you can be assaulted, robbed or worse. Pay attention to where you park. You should look around before you exit your vehicle. If things do not look right leave or find another place to park. Always have a self defense plan in case of an emergency. If an emergency does occur adjust your plan accordingly.

Aging Is Not What I Want It To Be…WAAAHHHHHH!

I was talking to my brother-in-law Charlie about aging. Charlie and I happen to have birthdays two days apart but he is nine years older than I am. Each of us has our own perspective on the subject and he shares my qualms about getting older and not being as physically agile and attractive as we used to be. He said he wished he was still my age and he shared that his father who is 90+ years said he would like to be 80 again. It seems we are all yearning to be a smaller number as we grow older. We look back with nostalgia at someone who is at the number we once were.

My own mother is in her 80s but will not admit it. Each year she has what Alice In Wonderland calls an “un-birthday.” I might try this approach for my coming birthday and the many that I will continue to have (yes, I do want to live forever).

Isn’t aging an interesting process? Oprah turned 50 in the same year that we lost Mr. Rogers. Why can’t we “have our cake and eat it too?” Well, I have decided that I will face my aging with a pro-active approach.

As a Baby-Boomer, I will take advantage of all that health and beauty care professionals have developed for us. I am on the new South Beach Diet. I have recently been Botoxed. Did you know they charge by the unit (the professionals call it “a shot”)? I had so many I quit counting and only knew the number when I handed them my credit card. I could hardly believe I was handing someone my MasterCard for Botox!

I now know what others have known for years: you can eat right (I have), exercise daily (I have), do marathons (I have), ride your butt off (I have), and take a lot of vitamins (I have) — and you know what? You will still look older.

I don’t think it is fair at all. Inside my 50-something body is a young, vibrant woman who is still ready to conquer the world, to seek out all the adventure I can find.

I know I’m not alone with these thoughts.

I have gathered information from more than a thousand women. One of the most important findings of my research is that nearly half of women are afraid of getting older. To put that in perspective, around 30% say health is their greatest concern and less than 5% worry about dying. Other researchers have found that women are afraid they will become “invisible” as they get older. Well, I am here to tell you that this woman is not going to let herself become invisible to others, and I hope you won’t allow it, either.

OK reader. Let’s get honest. Share your true thoughts with other women, speak up about the reality of growing older in this youth-oriented society! Let us never give up our efforts to become great, beautiful, smart, fantastic, happy women.

Clinical psychologist Nancy D. O’Reilly, PsyD, has worked with women for more than 25 years. She founded WomenSpeak to support women growing older in a youth-oriented society. Free resources, research, and book-in-progress about women’s true aging concerns at http://www.WomenSpeak.com.

Excellent Physical Conditioning Not Good For Muscle Bound Idiot

Judy was a 25 year old female aerobics instructor. She was in excellent physical condition. She was a very beautiful woman. She was not muscular, but she had a natural feminine flare. She was the envy of all the women in her class and the women of every guys dreams. She had an exboyfriend named Troy who was very jealous.

She had broken up with him a few weeks ago and was trying to get on with her life. He was not completely over her. He hated to see her talk to any other guy and he was not afraid to let her know it. He was a very muscular fellow, but not in the best aerobic condition. He was more into packing on the muscles than aerobics.

He just did not want to let her go. One day while she was teaching an aerobics class, Troy interrupted. He made a scene and Judy finally had to let her students reschedule the class. When she and Troy were alone in the room they argued. Some of the students over heard Troy say, if he could not have her then no one would.

He turned and left the room in a rage. The students tried to convince Judy to report him. She was so nice that she just wanted to forget it. Later that evening, Judy was about to leave the gym for home. She packed her stuff and walked out into the parking lot. She saw Troy in the parking lot. He hastily moved toward Judy.

He said, Judy when are you going to stop this nonsense and come back to me. She said, I have told you a million times it is over and I mean it, now move. Something must have triggered in Troy. He grabbed Judy around her neck with his massive hands and started to choke her. She struggled but it was no use.

Then she remembered something about defending herself. She kneed Troy in the groin, which broke his attack, and she ran. He regained composure and proceeded to chase her. Luckily she was in excellent aerobic condition and was able to out run him and get help. She reported the incident to police and Troy was arrested. Her excellent physical conditioning had probably saved her life.

You should always stay in the best physical condition possible. Excellent physical conditioning will help ward off attackers. When an opportunity to escape presents itself you may have to flee. If you are in better shape than your attacker you will have a better chance of escape. Not every one is in tiptop physical conditioning, so you will have to come up with alternatives to defend yourself.

During any attack or assault there will be many opportunities to escape. You must recognize them and utilized every method at your disposal. Your goal is not to defeat the criminal, but to allow yourself time to escape. When physical conditioning is not on your side, choose other ways to defend yourself. The list is never ending. Always have a self defense strategy in mind in case of emergency.

House Party Hosts Jealous

Elenore is a 25 Year old who likes to go to house parties. She was a very beautiful girl and a social queen. She had many friends and just as many enemies. She is very outgoing and speaks her mind, even when it is clear that what she says is offensive to others.

She is particularly disliked by some of her female counterparts who accused her of trying to take their male friends. The truth is, they are just jealous of her beauty and used that as a cover. She always dressed sexy and when she came into a party it was hard not to notice her. She was very friendly to everyone, which gave the appearance of flirting.

There was one young lady named Doretta, who particularly resented Elenore. Every time Elenore came around, her boy friend would loose interest in her. She had confronted Elenore several times but Elenore just ignored her, and went on about her business. Elenore was not interested in her boy friend and the guy knew it.

Doretta on the other hand swore that Elenore was trying to take him. One night, Elenore went to a house party for a new guy in town. When she got there, she walked into the room and she saw many of her other friends. She also saw Doretta and her boyfriend. As usual she lit up the room.

Dorettas boyfriend excused himself, so he could say hello to Elenore. This made Doretta furious. She followed him. He said how are you doing Elenore? She said fine thanks. That was the end of it. Doretta was in the distance giving Elenore an evil look. Later that evening the party was going great. Everyone was having a good time.

Doretta kept a close eye Elenore. She noticed Elenore had a drink in her hands. At that moment, she got an idea of how to get even with Elenore. She put some white powder in a cup and poured a drink on top of it. She told her boy friend to take it over to Elenore. He was confused but he readily agreed.

It would give him a chance to see her one more time. He took the drink to Elenore. She said thanks and he left. Later that night Elenore started to feel funny. She thought, I just need some fresh air, so she stepped outside on the balcony. Doretta followed her. By this time Elenore was really feeling bad and very dizzy.

She was barely holding onto the railing. Doretta walked over to her and asked if she was all right. Elenore reached out to Doretta. Doretta gave her arm a twist and over the railing she went 2 stories to the ground. Doretta just quietly walked back inside. She knew the fall would not kill Elenore but it would give her some bruises.

She also knew that the drug she put in the drink would make her forget everything. Elenore was taken to the hospital. She had suffered some bruised ribs and had cuts and scars on her face. Blood tests also revealed a high level of a date rape drug in her body. Because there was so many people there, nobody was ever charged for the crime. Most of the suspicion did however fall on Doretta.

If you attend parties or frequent clubs be aware of your surroundings. Never under any circumstances leave and come back to finish a drink. It only takes a few minutes for someone to drug it. Always have a self defense plan in mind in case of an emergency.

Yes! Pregnancy Is Possible During Menopause!

Is there a correlation between menopause and pregnancy? Can you become pregnant during menopause? These questions are asked quite frequently and the simple answer is yes, you can become pregnant during menopause.

Explaining The Stages Of Menopause

Let’s firstly describe the process of menopause. There are usually three stages and the whole process can can last for between 10-15 years. Perimenopause signifies stage one and is accompanied by irregular periods. The second phase is described as the main menopausal stage. If a woman hasn’t experienced periods for 12 months then she has entered the main menopausal phase and in most women, it’s accompanied by the usual symptoms such as decreasing estrogen levels along with hot flashes and mood swings. Postmenopause is usually reached when the common symptons accompanying phase two decline however, complications are still around including the threat of osteoporosis but with regular visits to the doctor, most women will be well aware of this and will be well prepared.

Pregnancy During The Early Phase

Pregnancy is still possible during the perimenopause stage. Periods become irregular during this phase and in most cases, women will become a little blase regarding the use of contraception during sex. What perimenopausal women need to be aware of is that ovulation still occurs during this phase. The fact that periods are still present, though sporadically, should be a clear indication that they are not yet “out of the woods” regarding pregnancy. It’s considered a pregnancy safe zone when a woman hasn’t experienced a period for a minimum of 12 months during perimenopause.

It’s common knowledge that the older a woman gets the less chance there is of pregnancy occurring and this is particularly so for women in their forties. Many doctors will encourage women to nevertheless, maintain safe sex practices during this period. Despite these messages, almost one in two women are still ignoring contraception during the perimenopausal stage. Further concern is that aborted pregnancies during this age group are extremely high.

So the clear message is that yes, menopause and pregnancy are very much co-existant. Irregular periods doesn’t mean the end of the pregnancy phase. Remember, ovulation still occurs and by applying the standard 12 month period free rule, women can avoid unwanted pregnancies.

If You Become Pregnant?

Many women believe there aren’t many options available to them if they fall pregnant. Basically, there aren’t. Either go through with the pregnancy or follow the abortion trail. Menopause is enough of a difficult time to negotiate for women let alone having to make major decisions such as whether to continue on with a pregnancy. The body is at the first stage of undergoing major changes which are tough enough to cope with on their own but coupled with the demands brought on by a pregnancy, then the stress suddenly can escalate.

Again, the message should be clear; if you are not intending on having children, then be a little more prudent during the perimenopase stage.

Daughter Commits Abuse Mother Goes To Jail

Josephine was a teenage mother. She had a 1 year old son named Scott. Josephine lived with her mother Marian. Due to her pregnacy, she was not been able to complete high school. Her mother worries that the responsibilities of childhood maybe too much for her. She is really concerned about Scotts safety.

Marian knows that her daughter is not the most responsible person in the world, so she helps out as much as possible. She also knows that a teenagers tolerance level is low. With a child to look after, it drops even lower. Sometimes Josephine would blame Scott for all her problems. Other times she acted as if she could not live without him.

She was very unstable, so her mother kept a close eye on her. Marian knew she could not be there all the time. She feared that Josephine might do something crazy if she became too stressed. Lately, Scott has begun crying a lot. He has also been withdrawing when Josephine comes near him. Her mother wondered what was going on. Scott has never been exactly overjoyed to see Josephine, but now he tries to completely get away from her.

Marian thought, maybe Scott is sick, so they took him to the hospital. The doctor examined Scott all over. He asked Marian to remain at the office while he took a walk down the hall to get some lab results. When the doctor returned, the police and a lady in a suit accompanied him. Marian was surprised.

She wondered what it was all about. The police told her that she was under arrest for child endangerment. The lady in the suit scooped Scott up and started toward the door. As Marian was being handcuffed and having her rights read to her by the police, she asked where they were taking Scott. The lady in the suit said that he would be placed in foster care until the situation could be resolved. Marian said, but I am not the childs mother.

The police said they would hear her arguments and explain in detail when they got to the station. Marian knew Josephine was the cause of all this. Whatever the doctors found resulted from her treatment of the child. When they got to the station. A detective went over the evidence that the doctor found. Scott had several bruises on his back, which indicated he had been beaten. Marian explained that she was not the childs mother.

She explained, that the childs mother was a teenager. The detective listen and afterwards he told Marian that he was convinced that she was not the guilty party. He also explained that someone had to be responsible. He sent the police to pickup Josephine. After questioning, Josephine admitted the she had caused the bruises on Scott when she was under stress. She was in tears.

Her mother hated to see her that way, but she knew that Scotts safety was the number one concern. She was given a hearing. She was sentenced to 1 year probation and nine months service at a child abuse clinic. She experienced first hand the trauma an abusers actions cause in a childs life.

Marian was awarded legal custody of Scott. Josephine was allowed only supervised contact with Scott, until the court is convinced that she had matured enough to take full responsibility.

It is in your best interest to keep a close eye on children in the custody of relatives with questionable judgment. Use all methods at your disposal to keep a child safe.
