An Open Invitation to the Republican Presidential Candidates

Later this month the Republican presidential candidates will participate in debate in Colombia, South Carolina. This debate will allow Americans to see and hear what each candidate brings to the Presidential table. Perhaps there will be a leader who comes out of this debate as a favorite. Or there may just be what the Democrats have offered, which is nothing but fax-blast talking points with little honest substance. We hope someone stands out and that person must deliver answers which lock-step with true Conservatism. One of the most important of all points of debate should be addressing the American Income Tax system.

Ironically, the Fair Tax supporters are also having a rally directly across the street from the GOP debate, and on the same night. This is an intentional rally directed at the Republican presidential candidates. The Fair Tax supporters would very much like to hear what these candidates think about HR-25/S-1025, the Fair Tax Plan. Especially when several candidates have been quoted as saying about the Fair Tax, From what I understand, it is promising, but.

From what I understand, means that they have not taken the initiative to either read the plan or book. They have not felt compelled enough to ask any of the growing millions of supporters any questions about the Bill. Nor have they seen the political advantage of promoting the Fair Tax as a highly valuable campaign tool. You see, no-one in their right mind enjoys paying income taxes. Yet just about everyone loves spending their hard earned money on things they want.

With the current ever-changing tax monster, we are all finding it harder and harder to afford the things in life we desire. Even more trying will be the coming increase of $400 billion in higher taxes forced upon us by the newly formed Democrat representative majority. Even the Democrats understand that Conservative values win elections. However, as we are beginning to see, their values have changed since they have taken charge. Which is why the GOP presidential candidates need to know what the Fair Tax represents to the future of America.

All they have to do is ask questions, and read the Bill, the book or even the supporting information on the National Fair Tax website. Learn what the Plan will do, and be ready to stand behind one of the top Conservative ideals ever; no more income taxes. Become the leader of the Fair Tax drive and you will find millions following you to the polls. If you want the short track to the Whitehouse, get behind and push the Fair Tax Plan out into the American political spotlight.

I am willing to suggest that since your debate is right across the street from the Fair Tax rally, why not step across the road and see for yourself what millions are already supporting? I will bet you that if you inform the Fair Tax people that you want to attend the rally after the debate, they would be more than willing to wait for you to arrive. As I also guarantee you that when you walk in the door you would be given a much more supportive round of applause than you have ever experienced anywhere in your career. That is because all of those who come are willing to see for themselves what America truly desires in our taxes.

You will also find that not all are these Fair Tax supporters are just Republicans. In attendance you are going to see Democrats, Independents, and Libertarians there as well as CPAs and even IRS personnel, and they are all there trying to help each other teach the American public and politicians about the Fair Tax. Again, the candidate who steps up and makes the Fair Tax a primary election issue is the one who will doubtlessly earn the votes of these supporters and those to come in the future.

If you are truly dedicated to becoming the President of the United States then you have to be a trendsetter and not a follower. Be the leader and come to the Fair Tax rally after your debate. I am willing to bet that we will even have better refreshments.

Bayonets Not Bombs

Seems Iraq is not a “popular war”. Which basically means that because we aren’t full-out winning the war by the time the nightly news stops for a commercial break, people think twice about it?

And as of recently, I’ve been seeing many people make comparisons between Iraq and Vietnam. (Especially from the criminals in D.C. who’re using the unpopular war opinion to further their own political careers)
Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska warned that President Bush’s new plan to send in more troops would be “the most dangerous foreign policy blunder in this country since Vietnam, if it’s carried out.”

Well if protecting ourselves from the reaches of Communism (Vietnam), and from the fanatical evil of terrorism and religious nuts (Iraq) takes some third world hell hole to be completely annihilated and remade in the vision of an actual civilization, then so be it.

Our soldiers have a job to do. A job that they signed up for out of their own free will and sense of patriotism. If their commander in chief says “go protect us”, then our elected representatives should not quibble and squawk like a bunch of washerwomen arguing over the dirty laundry.

Those troops are being sent over for a reason. And that reason is that we can’t decisively win this war and change those goat screwing jerks that are shooting at our soldiers with electronics, smart bombs, or diplomatic hippy talk. Man to man, room to room, close quarters combat. That is how we’re going to change that god-forsaken cesspool.

Listen, GWB sure as hell isn’t perfect, but to see that he’s doing the right thing now simply takes a look back at the Vietnam War. And one man in particularly…John Paul Vann

Lt Col Vann would return to the United States after serving his time in Korea and would have a typical career until he headed to Vietnam in 1962 as an advisor. Vann came to Vietnam with every intention of winning the war, but soon found nothing but problems.
The South Vietnamese government was corrupt and tried to avoid causalities while the United States military bombed areas all over the country killing civilian and guerilla alike. Vann knew by bombing these areas more local people would take the side of the Viet Cong. (Sound familiar?)

His approach was to engage the enemy in close combat, because by doing so would not risk any unnecessary deaths of civilians. It made for tough, slow fighting results, but it worked. And more importantly, it let the local people see that the war was against the enemy and not them personally, and resulted in rallying local support.

Unfortunately, like most men of action, Van was critical of those in charge and gave his full, unedited, and truthful opinion to the press. This quickly lead to Vann losing his position, and later leaving the military. But the fight wasn’t over for Vann as he returned as civilian advisor working with both American and Vietnamese personnel and inspiring them with his “lead by example” attitude.

When asked about his tactics Vann said, “This is a political war and it calls for discrimination in killing. The best weapon for killing would be a knife, but I’m afraid we can’t do it that way. The worst is an airplane. The next worst is artillery. Barring a knife, the best is a rifle - you know who you’re killing.”

Vann would continue to lead forces to victory even after the United States began to pull out, but was killed in action when his helicopter crashed.
President Nixon awarded him the Medal of Freedom after his death, but sadly, Vann’s name cannot be found on the Vietnam Memorial with the other heroic men and women who died trying win an unpopular (but necessary) war that the liberal constitute of society used to further their own selfish positions.

This “getting close to make a difference” affects you too I hope you know.

While our soldiers are over in the sandbox doing their duty, they fully expect you to do yours while they are away. And that means preserving the freedom and way of life they left to go protect.

When you see someone being wronged…say something directly to the person doing the “wrong”. When you see the weak being, preyed upon…target the “predator” directly and make him see the error of his ways. Bitching and moaning to a general audience or your peers (like those liberal pussies in the Senate) does nothing but spread confusing messages and diluted truths. We are in a fight so let’s do what we have to win it.

Challenge from a Right Wing Nut Job

Let’s try something new shall we? I got this idea after spending a weekend with my wife’s family. The Andersons are great group of folks who I enjoy spending time with, however, they are about as politically divided a family as I have ever seen. This is not just your standard “this is my view, this is your view lets have a drink and discuss it” type of family. Politics are a sport and are argued as vehemently as two teams fighting like the score is tied with 30 seconds to go in the championship game. Based on my wife’s request, I try to stay out of the circle of engagement, but every now and then I am drawn into an argument. My party affiliation is no secret as I am a registered independent, but my viewpoints are anything but neutral. I am, as my brother-in-law has labeled me, “a right-wing-nut-job”. I am devoutly conservative with my ideals and hence am a target for the “left-wing-kooks”. More times than not, I am challenged to defend the actions of my party affiliations or my ideologies. This has grown tiresome, as my arguments are often dismissed by the those who do not like to hear what I have say or are interrupted prior to my conclusions, so I am going to make an offer of unusual stature.

I do not believe the Republican party has the answer to every problem, nor do I always agree with they way they handle situations, however, I almost always find myself in disagreement with the Democrats and their ideology. Above all, I am searching for what I believe is best for AMERICA. I do not care about political affiliations, but I believe in upholding the ideals of our Founding Fathers and the integrity of the Red, White, and Blue. I do not believe I can effectively call myself a supporter of Americanism if I do not listen to both sides of the argument, likewise, I do not give much weight to an someone’s opinion who does not let me finish a statement without interjecting, arguing, or being otherwise “closed-minded”.

So here is the golden opportunity the Left Wing has been waiting for. I agree to listen to your arguments and give you a chance to convince me that the liberal ideology of the Democratic Party is better for America. Be prepared, because I will ask questions as to why along with a request for supporting data in most cases to ensure clarification. The beauty of doing this in writing is the simple fact that points can be made without allowing emotional interruption to occur. If I am convinced following the discussions that the Democratic Agenda is of betterment for the US, I will then support it. I will list the issues where I draw challenge and invite comment to help clarify my understanding.

At the end, you will have either convinced me to join you or solidly cemented my thoughts of conservatism. This is not an opportunity for you to tell me about what you do not like about the Republicans but to explain your own positions. Here are my points of contention with the Liberal Ideology.

1. Gun Control: How does the Democratic Party portray increased gun control as a benefit to me? As a gun dealer and a gun owner, I have seen the Democratic Party continue to demonize the legal gun owners of America with half-truths and doomsday projections (see Sarah Brady comments on the expiration of the 1994 AWB). How does this proclaimed goal of eliminating private ownership of firearms as well as the destruction of the 2nd Amendment advance society to the betterment of the United States?

2. Taxes: How do higher taxes make things better on me? It appears to me as a taxpayer who works at one job and who runs his own business, that the Democratic Party is bent on taxing me at every turn. Here in Washington State, I am continually tapped for B&O taxes, Sales Taxes, Surcharge Taxes, use taxes, phone taxes, utility taxes, car taxes, registration taxes, gas taxes, death taxes, property taxes, taxes, taxes, taxes, taxes. It seems to me when it comes time to increase taxes, the democratic party is in the lead saying things like “This is only a few dollars a year for the average person”or “the death tax is way of repaying society for the good life you have lead”(Please see comments by Gov. Christine Gregoire), but when an opportunity arises to cut taxes there are screams of bloody-murder followed by news reports of government collapsing without this revenue. I already work the first 112 days of the year just to pay my tax responsibility. How much more is needed and how does such a tax burden help advance society and America?

3. Same Sex marriage. I am against same sex marriage. I do not believe it is a proper or natural behavior furthermore, after actually investigating the medical information on it, I do not believe it is a healthy lifestyle. According to the CDC in 2003, the homosexual lifestyle reduces the average participant lifespan by 25 years or more. I will not support legislation to govern what goes on in one’s bedroom between consenting adults, but I am strongly against the government “endorsing” such behavior. From my perspective, I have seen the Political parties clearly divided. Republicans are against and Democrats are for. How does the Democratic perspective benefit society and how does it benefit America?

4. The use of military force in Iraq. This is a major area for guys like me. I believe in the strong use of military for the protection of the United States of America. I also believe the occupation of IRAQ was necessary for national security both in dethroning a violent dictator who has stood in violation of the UN and his own surrender agreement as well as removing a destablizing catalyst for the entire region. I believe Saddam Hussein was a major source on Middle East instability and by introducing freedom into Iraq, we will have unleashed the one weapon that has destroyed more dictators and oppressive empires through out history, the desire of the people for liberty. I believe Saddam had weapons of mass destruction (as proven by his use of gas on the Kurds) and I believe he would have used his considerable wealth and unlimited resources to obtain more for use against the United States. Assurances otherwise combined with a blatant disregard for UN mandate rang hollow. Furthermore, I believe the US acted within compliance of UN resolution 1447 (as well as 13 previous resolutions and the Iraqi surrender agreement) in occupying Iraq. I believe failure to act upon these resolutions would have led to the complete discrediting of the United Nations as was proven by the League of Nations in its failure to hold Germany accountable to surrender agreement of WWI and prior to World War II. How does the Democratic ideal of allowing these types of criminals to remain in power benefit America, furthermore, how does subscribing to UN mandate without enforcing it benefit America?

5. The use of God? I am a Christian, however, I do not believe in forcing my religion upon anyone. I believe everyone is given freewill and am not willing to condemn anyone for exercising it, however, I believe in order to preserve the integrity of the United States and the Constitution, we must endorse the belief in a higher being. The constitution clearly states “God Given Rights”. This is not an endorsement of government religion, but it is a statement which claims the law of man cannot take away such rights. Everywhere I look, there seems to be a movement to remove any reference to God either in the pledge of allegiance, the schools, and even from the face of history. I have seen a swing against such religion from the liberal wing of the Democratic Party. How does removing references to God from our lives promote the betterment of America and how does the rewriting of history to exclude God better America? (i.e. please see the new definitions for B.C. and A.D. It is no longer Before Christ and After Death).

6. Abortion. This is another loaded issue full of differences in opinions, which seems to split party lines very clearly. I do not support abortion, likewise, I am not in favor of more goverment control over daily lives and am willing to concede this as a right of the individual in cases of rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is in danger. I am not supportive of abortion as a form of birth control, especially in the form of late term abortion. It seems the Democrats have continually fought against any kind of ban this practice. How does late term abortion benefit society and advance America?

7. What have Democrats done over the last 5 years that benefit America? Here is a sticking point with me. It appears to me the Democrats have become the party of “NO!”. I have not seen the introduction of an idea from the Democrats which has lead to tangible discussion of a solution to a problem. Since the dramatic loss of power and cohesion within the party, the liberal wing appears to have become more interested in obstructionist tactics rather than providing for legislative solutions. From the filibustering of Judicial Nominees to the staunch dead-set-against-it mentality towards tax cuts to the gloom-and-doom projections about the expiration of the Assault Weapons Ban. The overall perception is not that of a party with progressive ideas for the betterment of our country, but of whiny children who don’t want to participate if they can’t get their way. From my perspective the Democrats have allowed their hatred for George W. Bush to become their defining characteristic and their intentions not to be on the betterment of America, but the destruction of a political figure. The Democratic party continues to gain only in numbers of lost seats as they further exclude more of the voting block with their obstructionist daddy-knows-best mentalities (please see 2004 national election map break down by COUNTY). How does this better America?

This is not meant to be a slam, but rather a chance to address my viewpoints in a logical manner. I welcome comments and look forward to hearing from different perspectives. I am providing this as an opportunity to convince me on fact that my perspective is wrong. I am being open-minded and am willing to listen. If nothing else, perhaps we can learn a little more about each other’s perspectives and concerns.

The Final Loss of Credibility

Here it is, the final loss of all credibility in complaints of how the US treats detainees, Prisoners of War, and militants. For years I have been listening to new report after news report of how badly the United States has treated hostile militants and how in hospitable we are to those under our care. For a while, I thought they may have some validity, but no more. I realize now, they are not concerned with the care of human beings nor the preservation of human life but are solely and 100% based upon the establishment of political posturing and a continuing effort to snatch defeat from jaws of victory.

In 2004-2005, pictures from Abu Grab prison in IRAQ made headlines around the world prompting outcries from all opponents of the war. This “inhumane” treatment was to be condemned and every member of the Bush administration was to resign from their posititions in udder shame for the actions of some soldiers. The pictures showed numerous detainees placed in embarrassing, humilitating, or intimidating positions which probably amounted to no more viciousness than a fraternity hazing party. Yet the outcry was deafening.

Halfway around the world in Guantanamo Bay, the Prisoners of War are being detained while the battle continues in Iraq and Afghanistan. These POW’s were the results of ended battles and raids with most of them being “hostile combatants” (the politically correct term for “Want to Kill Americans”). While these prisoners are given the ability to pray to their selected religion, food, water, shelter, and medical care, outcries from the predominantly Liberal Ideology have called for their release. Even in the US Legislative branches their have been moves to give these enemies of our country the rights of all US Citizens including a right to a trial complete with Lawyers, evidence, and proof of guilt. The outcry over this “inhumane treatment” is receiving a new focus as some of the prisoners recently committed suicide.

In mid-2005, the US and Allied intelligence forces suffered yet another attack from the “humanity crowd” with the uncovering our a secret prison system in different countries used by the CIA and other intelligence gathering organizations for the internment and designation of some the planets worst human debris. This prompted yet another public outcry about inhumane treatment for detainees in US care as well as the knee jerk political posturing within the US Senate with the likes of John McCain introducing the no-torture act.

Everywhere we turn, it seems we are vilified for our lack of humanity but today the farce came to a sudden and grinding halt. The activists and warriors for the humane treatment of prisoners were exposed for the simple political whiners they were. Instead of clinging to the ideology they spout so hatefully at US policy, they instead became nothing more than political talking heads with a message of “We Hate Bush and the US”.

Today, 2 soldiers were found in Iraq. The two had made headlines around the world as being capture by insurgency forces of Al-Qieda during an attack on check point. They were found dead, bodies mutilated, and presumably beheaded. In short, these POW’s were tortured and executed, yet today, the advocates of “humane treatement” are strangely silent. There is no breaking news calling for resignation of the Al Qieda leaders. No requests for investigations. No legislative pandering. No claims of violations against the Geneva Convention. Those who are calling for the removal of US forces from Iraq, the freeing of hostile combatants, and persecution of George W Bush as a war criminal have made possibly the greatest statement of their position without saying a thing. The double standard is tragic. The life of a US soldier means so much less than those of the enemy and so ends the charade of “humane treatment”

Just for fun, lets reverse rolls. If the US refused to give aid to captured combatants and instead systematically bound them, blind folded them, publicly tortured them, and then beheaded them leaving the bodies in the dirt for the flies to molest and the maggots to feast, how would the world react? Would the news coverage be different or would the outcry of “humane treatment” be heard again in loud wail of sorrow and agony?

Why then, are we not hearing it now?

My deepest thanks to the Soldiers of Unites States of America who have served or continue to serve to maintain the Freedom we hold so dear and my deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones in this conflict. Never has some much, been owed by so many, to so few.
