Affiliate Programs are a Great Way to Make an Income Online

Anybody who uses the Internet must have surely heard about affiliate marketing. We are all, at times, bombarded by ‘get rich quick’ offers. Many ignore this as a gimmick; still more have tried their luck with such schemes, or are thinking of joining an affiliate program.

It is true that one can earn a decent amount of money through affiliate marketing, however, anybody making a claim of getting rich quickly without any work, is obviously, what we call in Ireland, ‘Spoofing’, ie. telling lies.

To be successful with affiliate marketing, one needs to first know how the affiliate programs work. One can’t expect to be successful at doing something that he/she doesn’t understand! What affiliate programs do is give you a percentage or a fixed amount by the way of sales that have come through you. To become an affiliate or a publisher, as affiliates are called, all you need is a website (though most programs supply you with an affiliate website, coded with your id, I highly suggest you get your own site). Now all you have to do is post some banners to advertise the products or services offered by the programs you are affiliated with. Now each time someone purchases something from your affiliates site by going through your website, you make money! Simple, isn’t it??

The way this actually happens is, the banner that you have posted on your site contains a special code that is unique to you. So whenever someone clicks on such banner, small files called cookies are downloaded on the computer. This contains the information required to identify that this person has actually come in by clicking the banner on your site. Now if this person purchases something from the site that you are affiliated with, you are given a fixed commission. At times, the cookies are kept on the prospective customers for upto a year, so that even if that person doesn’t purchase immediately, but comes back later and makes a purchase, you get your commission. Though this will differ with different programs, and you need to confirm before joining a program without leaving anything to chance.

With so many scams and frauds going around the Internet, one definitely needs to be careful. Or you could end up spending precious time, money and other resources with no real benefits. However, I would like to repeat that you can earn good money by joining affiliate programs; full time or supplementary income, is your choice. To find out good affiliate programs on the net, you will need to look around a bit, and this is the tough part.

You want to be affiliated with programs that you know sell good products, and those in which you have confidence. The affiliate programs are free to register with, so you aren’t required to put down any cash. So if someone asks you for money in order to register, I would suggest you move on. You get paid for the business that you bring to the programs you are affiliated with, and this is what makes a win-win situation for you, as well as the merchant. So there is no reason for you to pay for registering with an affiliate program.

Once you are affiliated with a couple of good affiliate programs, it is like flying on auto-pilot, and you will only be required to oversee things on a superficial level, or address any occasional problems that might arise. However, this is your business, and you need to be aware of what is going on. But, apart from that, there is hardly anything to do expect keep expanding with time.

So for anybody who says that this is easy money, I wouldn’t really comment on that. However, it is definitely a simpler way of making money online than many other avenues.

Affiliate Marketing Is Raising the Bar

Affiliate marketing is the fastest growing business model for online marketers in 2007. After all, can you blame the people who are involved in this type of work? In this line of business there is no need to have your own product, no worries about customer service, and no physical labor such as packing, shipping, and driving to and from the post office everyday. No hassles of returns, and certainly no over head costs beyond advertising.

Many successful affiliate marketers do not even know how to create their own web sites and still manage to make a full time income from the comfort of their own homes with commissions from dozens, if not hundreds of affiliate programs at the same time. Affiliate marketing creates the opportunity to be a salesman for any company you wish, without having to wear a suit and tie to work everyday or kiss up to the boss.

Affiliate marketing gives you the opportunity to work in any line of business you prefer, and you can start the job today! Several popular Affiliate Networks have sprung up in the last several years. The most notable ones would be Clickbank, Commission Junction, Linkshare, and PayDotCom. These networks have online “market places” where affiliates are able to shop for the products that pay the highest commissions in any number of given categories or niches that they desire to promote using their own web sites, and other methods of advertising.

The affiliate is then given their own personal affiliate URL to promote for the publishers web site, and every sale that they are able to generate for the given company earns them a handsome commission check at the end of the Networks Pay Cycle. Simple enough? Well, according to most newbie affiliate marketers, it is clearly easier said than done.

Competing in categories such as “make money online” or “health and wellness” niches can seem like a mountain that cannot be climbed to the beginner affiliate. If you are considering a possible career as a full time affiliate marketer, make sure that you go into this profession with your eyes wide open before you quit your day job!

Countless attempts to become what the industry refers to as a “Super Affiliate” or a “Guru” are made every day. The idea of making money quick, with minimal effort on your part is every lazy man’s dream. While it is possible to “get rich quick”, there is no “getting rich quick and easy without any effort on your part whatsoever. Success at “working from home” can be achieved if the right goals are set, and the right help is in place to get you started on the right track.

There are coaches that share the techniques that have created very comfortable lifestyles they enjoy at young ages. The cost of coaching from most self proclaimed “internet marketing Gurus” will often run you into several thousands of dollars, and the return is often minimal. There are, however, honest entrepreneurs who reach out to help others for much less or even for free in some circumstances.

Membership websites are good places for the person who wants more information to learn about working from home, before they spend all their money on the latest ebooks describing endless methods to lose more money. Methods are many, principles are few. Methods always change, principles never do.

Can You Make Affiliate Riches Without A List?

Every internet marketing guru will tell you that you need to have your own list of subscribers who you can market to, if you want to make real money from affiliate marketing. Well is this true or is it just a load of hype?

There’s no question that having your own list is certainly not a bad thing, and the minimal costs of maintaining your own list makes this option a no-brainer really because it can only increase your affiliate income. Your only costs are those of your chosen autoresponder which are relatively small in comparison to the profits you can make.

By building a list of subscribers you ensure that a fair few visitors who visit your site are not lost forever when they leave your site. By offering something of value in order to capture their name and email address, you can add them to your email list and market to these people over and over again, whilst building a relationship at the same time, which can only increase your affiliate revenue.

However, if you really don’t wish to build your own list, or maybe you don’t have the time to build a list or constantly find new products to promote, then all is not lost.

An alternative would be to just drive traffic to your affiliate links or website, but if you’re only promoting products that pay commissions on a one-off basis, then you will be fighting a constant battle to maintain affiliate sales. Every new affiliate commission will require a fair amount of effort to achieve.

This is why I always recommend promoting those products that pay commissions on a recurring basis, such as membership sites, web hosting, autoresponders, and so on. This way you earn commissions every single month for as long as your referrals remain a member, and you have greater financial stability in future months.

Each affiliate referral requires the same amount of effort as a traditional one-off affiliate product, but the rewards can be far more substantial in the long run, and can provide you with a stable income for several years in some instances.

In fact promoting recurring commission products is essentially similar to having your own list because both have the potential to provide solid long-term profits, so in my opinion this is the way to go if you really don’t have the time to build and maintain your own list.

Although I always tell everyone that they should be building their own list, you can still make a very good living from promoting affiliate products without one, especially if you focus your efforts on promoting recurring commission products.

What Types Of Products Should You Be Promoting As An Affiliate?

As an affiliate marketer, your choice of affiliate programs is almost limitless, and it can, therefore, be very difficult deciding what products you should be promoting, in order to achieve maximum long-term profits.

So in the remainder of this article, I’m going to explore the different affiliate program models, and discuss which ones you should be focusing your efforts on.

The first and most basic type of affiliate program is one that simply pays you a one-off commission for every sale you make. So if you sold a $50 product that pays you 5% per sale, for example, then you would earn $2.50 for every sale that you make as an affiliate.

There’s nothing wrong with these types of programs at all, but as commissions are often relatively low (between 1% and 15% for most products) you need to make a lot of sales to make the big money. In addition you, or essentially your website(s), have to keep on working in order to generate repeat sales.

This is why I always think that if you want to target these types of affiliate programs, you should look for products that pay high percentages, like Clickbank for example, or the more expensive products that pay out larger commissions per sale. This is because, in my experience, it takes just as much effort to promote high-paying affiliate programs as it does low-paying affiliate programs, so you might as well be well-compensated for your efforts.

Another closely related type of affiliate program is one which pays per lead, rather than per sale. These programs can be very lucrative as it’s often easier to get visitors to fill out a form, than to actually buy a product. Although most pay per lead programs may only pay you a small amount per lead, it’s worth looking in to as some companies, particularly those in lucrative and competitive markets, often pay out generous commissions for every single lead you generate (although you will face stiff competition from other affiliates).

Okay so we’ve discussed the pay per sale and pay per lead affiliate models. Both have their merits, but let’s now discuss the two types of affiliate programs that, in my opinion, are the most financially rewarding.

The first of these is the recurring commission affiliate model. The products that adopt this model are generally those that require repeat payments in future months, such as web hosting, autoresponders, and membership sites.

These can be extremely rewarding because as an affiliate, for every customer that you attract, you will continually be rewarded in future months as additional payments are made, because you will receive a slice of that payment in commission.

Therefore, these types of affiliate programs can provide affiliates with a relatively stable long-term income, and require less effort than pay per sale programs where you have to continually get new sales in order to generate commissions. This is why I suggest that every affiliate should be actively promoting at least one product that offers recurring commissions, and in addition should focus on the highest quality products, so that each referral remains a customer for as long as possible.

The final type of affiliate program I wish to discuss is the revenue share model. This is where the big money is to be made in my experience. It’s essentially similar to the recurring commission model in that it pays you repeat commissions from the same referral, except that the commissions involved here are often considerably larger.

Examples of the types of products or programs that use this model include lucrative markets like forex and poker, where they will pay you a percentage of the entire commissions that each of your referrals generate. Over time these commissions can really add up, particularly if you can attract one or two big-hitters who can generate the big commissions.

So to sum up, in my experience, while you can make good profits promoting pay per sale or pay per lead programs, you should ensure that you are actively promoting at least one product that pays recurring commissions, and one revenue share product or program. These require just as much effort to promote, but will often generate far more profits in the long run.

The Affiliates Super Seven Keys To Laser-Targeted Traffic

An affiliate marketer may have all the things needed for him to be able to succeed in a business such as affiliate marketing. He may have the necessary drive, diligence and perseverance to be able to understand how the system works. He may have all the tools necessary in maintaining the business, including a really unique and interesting website which could earn him a fortune if only the whole world could see it. However, all these would prove useless if he does not know how to drive traffic to his website. His business would sink into oblivion together with all the sales, fortune and dreams that he might have realized if he only knew how to do this particular task.

Getting people who matter to see one’s website is a difficult undertaking if he tries to consider the fact that there are rivals everywhere waiting to pin him down. The immensity of the internet as well as the affiliate marketing world has given birth to the fierce competition between affiliate marketers, each of whom has his own great product to offer. With all the websites piling on top of each other, how would one be able to stand out? The seven best ways to drive laser-targeted traffic to one’s own website would help those who are bent on sticking it out with this business wherever it is bound to take them.

The first step in driving traffic to one’s website is by relying on search engines and what they can do for the affiliate marketer concerned. Because they are popular for driving free targeted traffic, they should not be ignored by all means. Having top search engine rankings is vital in building popularity links, and the use of the right keywords is important in attaining this goal. Once a website is on top of the list, it is easily accessible to anyone who wants to see it for himself.

The second way in driving traffic to one’s website is by contacting other webmasters for a possible link exchange partnership. Locating websites that are related to one’s own website is the primary task. Once there, he should be able to establish communication by personalizing everything as much as possible. It is then possible to make reciprocal link exchanges between webmasters whichever way the affiliate marketer prefers.

The third way is through writing one’s own articles. This is an effective way in promoting a website, because good content that are appreciated by readers will lead them to visit the writer’s very own website out of sheer interest.

The fourth way is through joint venture marketing. This is one of the most effective ways of promoting a product or a service. Having a partner through ad swap or link exchange is beneficial to both parties as it allows them to reach a wide customer base in a short amount of time.

The fifth is through joining affiliate programs. Having affiliates to do the work means allowing them to bring tons of traffic to a website. Skyrocketing sales would be realized as a result, and both the affiliate and the website owner will benefit from the situation.

The sixth is by having a list of subscribers that one can refer to every so often, because they are those which would prove to be valuable assets for the marketer concerned. The use of autoresponders and personalized newsletters is one way of keeping track of them all, and holding on to them by letting them know about new products and services is an essential task that should be done by the affiliate marketer concerned.

The seventh is by knowing one’s market through and through. It is important for traffic to be targeted to those who might have a special interest in the theme or topic of one’s website. This way, a solid customer base is going to be created. Once a potential customer shows an interest in a particular website by paying it a visit, one must not waste time in trying to show him that his effort is worth it.

Traffic generating strategies are important in trying to make one’s affiliate marketing career inch forward. It is always advantageous to plan one’s moves in any business that he might undertake. This is particularly so in affiliate marketing. If one knows how to get people to see what he has to offer, then he is on the right track.

Paypal Offers Secure Servers

PayPal is one of the most widely used payment processors online. While it does have some limitations, particularly on where in the world it can be used, this payment service can be a great help to the newbie ebusiness on a budget. It allows newcomers to accept online credit card payments, as well as transfer money to and from bank accounts and other PayPal accounts. It is important to know how to use it in order to get the most from this service.

Setting up a PayPal account is free. There are 3 main types of accounts available, Personal, Premier and Business. The Personal account is just that, for personal use, paying for things you buy on Ebay and such. Transactions are free with this type of account, but your options for use are quite limited and it is not an account type suitable for ecommerce.

The Business and Premier accounts are nearly identical, except that the Business account allows multi-user access, while the Premier is exclusive. Both are ideal for ecommerce use and offer unlimited credit card transactions, full merchant services and access to a PayPal ATM debit card that can be used around the world. They also charge a percentage of each transaction, depending on the amount of money being transferred.

PayPal is not available in every country, so you need to make sure that your country is on the list for full services. If not, check to see which services are available in your area, as some countries can set up an account but only do online transfers, not withdraw the money. This is vital to know ahead of time!

For the ecommerce site, PayPal offers a full merchant account with secure servers and anti-fraud protection to help protect both you and your customer. They also have a shopping cart and shopping buttons available on the site. You simply enter the information needed, such as price and product name plus shipping costs, etc. and the site will spit out a piece of HTML code that allows you to place the button on your website for any product desired.

PayPa’s merchant account can be used with several different shopping carts, so if you don’t like the ones they offer on their site, you can easily replace them. Also, the ability to accept credit cards online is a very nice feature that most ebusinesses will appreciate. You can also accept eChecks and direct PayPal to PayPal payments, which expands your payment options quite a bit.

The free merchant account is somewhat limited, but you can upgrade to the Virtual Terminal if you do business in the U.S., which allows you to process credit cards online, by fax and by telephone. This allows a more flexible payment plan both on and offline, ideal for the ecommerce merchant looking to expand offline as well.

PayPal is one of the webs most accepted payment service options for good reason, they have earned their position. For low fees and easy merchant account setup, they are the ideal solution for a new ecommerce website.

Five Steps to Earning Money with Affiliate Internet Marketing

It is all about planning. Many people getting into affiliate marketing are thinking about making a fast buck. It is hard to fault them. Since the formation of CDNow almost thirteen years ago, affiliate marketing has exploded into a billion dollar per year industry. There are also the benefits including little to no overhead, residual income, getting paid for the work of your downline and not having to deal with any customer service problems.

But it is still a business and many people do not understand that a business requires planning. No matter how great the product or service, if you do not have any guidelines mapped out beforehand then you will probably wind up like ninety five percent of affiliate (and internet) marketers who do not make any money online.

Affiliate internet marketing is a lot of work, time, patience, mistakes, uncertainty and constant learning. The key is to create a plan and work it.

Where does it start?

1. Your Office.

Whether working out of your garage, kitchen or bathroom (hey sometimes you do what you got to do), make sure your office is comfortable with proper lighting, ventilation and as little distraction as possible. It is hard to get any work done with the phone ringing every 15 minutes. If you have to, let the answering machine pick up. Set aside blocks of time where you concentrate on nothing but your affiliate marketing

2. Learn and Keep Learning.

Study the affiliate marketers who are making money. Visit affiliate marketing forums. While your overall goal is to become successful, you may from time to time have to change your strategies. Forums are a great place to get tips and ideas that you can adapt to your business. Also, many affiliate programs now offer conference rooms. This allows you to live chat with the product creators, as well as other affiliate marketers participating in the program.

Some conferences are just cheerleading sessions. They get you fired up to sell the product but do not give you any concrete ways to sell it. However, many merchants do provide solid support, answer any and all questions in real time and recommend affiliate marketing strategies to help you. If your merchant is scheduling conferences on a regular basis, take advantage of it.

3. Research Your Target Market.

It is not enough just to know what is going on with your product or service. What are the new trends? Watch television. Read newspapers and magazines. Find out where the hot markets are popping up and how it affects your business. Do not just read affiliate news. Get as much information as possible on what is happening around the world and then apply it to your affiliate business.

4. Your own website.

This is the command center for your affiliate marketing campaign. Yes you can promote different programs without one but this makes it more difficult and less profitable for you. Having your own website means you can capture the visitor information before you send them to the merchant. If they do not like the particular product you are selling at this time, you can always contact them about other offers or promotions later. The beauty is once you get their name and e-mail, you can contact them for as long as they remain on your opt in list. This is called backend and you can believe it is how many of the top affiliate marketers make their money. The money is in the list and the only way to do that is get your own website where people can sign up.

5. Do not kid yourself.

We all want to be millionaires by the time the sun goes down or at least by early the next morning but that is not reality. Affiliate marketing is hard work so set a goal that you can achieve. How much realistic profit can you generate in a month? Start small. If you earned five hundred dollars last month, shoot for seventy hundred fifty next month. They may seem like baby steps but they can stop you from getting any false expectations which lead to discouragement and finally giving up all together. It may take awhile before you actually see any money so hang in there.

According to the AffStat 2007 report over eighty percent of affiliate programs offer revenue sharing. If you plan and treat your affiliate internet marketing like a business, then there is no reason why you cannot share in the profits.

Setting Up an Effective Affiliate Marketing Campaign

Affiliate marketing has exploded since the dawn of the internet, and its easy to see why. You don’t have to have your own product, and all you have to worry about is going through a couple of steps and driving traffic to where it needs to go. If set up properly, an affiliate marketing campaign can generate great sums of money for your bank account.

There are just a few things you need to keep in mind when setting up an affiliate marketing campaign. Yo need to have a couple of tools that are absolutely necessary, and you need to remember that there is competition to consider, as well. That being said, let’s look at the tools you need.

The single most important thing you need for an effective affiliate marketing campaign is an auto responder. The reason is very simple. When you get a visitor, there is about a .2% chance that he or she is going to give you any money.

They will, however be very open to getting free information about the subject matter at hand. Depending on the niche you’re in at the time, the probability is that they don’t realize that along with this information will be your asking them again to buy. After somewhere between five and ten contacts, they will be much more likely to buy from you.

What makes this the perfect affiliate marketing tool beyond the initial product sale is that you now have their email addresses and can hit them up later to sell them related products and services. Aweber has the best auto responder on the market. You can track how many people open your mails and/ or click on your links, personalize the emails, and set the time intervals between the emails for about twenty bucks a month.

The other most important thing you can have is a landing, or squeeze, page for each affiliate marketing campaign you have in place. Squeeze pages are great. As a matter of fact, this is where you can really get creative with your affiliate marketing. If you don’t know HTML, you can always use a squeeze page or sales page generator.

You can add your auto responder opt-in form, incentives to get your customers to buy from you, mention other products to plant the seed for when you hit them up later, reference your own website, or even add audio or video, like with Cam Studio. You can’t do that on the affiliate site. Besides, it’s tacky to send someone directly to an affiliate site without any kind of personable warm-up from you. Most article publishers won’t let you put a link directly to an affiliate site, anyway.

Affiliate marketing can be a lot of fun if you do it right. Using just these two tools (and a little practice) will increase your chances of success tenfold or more. Before driving traffic to your sites, try building a landing page with an opt-in form from an auto responder with about ten follow-up messages in place, and drive traffic to it instead. Your affiliate marketing efforts will pay off much more if you follow even just these simple steps.

Affiliate Marketing Secrets

Affiliate marketing is a partnership that is developed between an online merchant and a website owner, wherein a website owner promotes the product or service of the online merchant in return for a commission. It is a great means of generating additional income because the merchant pays the website owner for purchases made or traffic generated as a result of their advertisments.

There are basically three types of affiliate marketing programs: Pay-Per-Click (PPC), Pay-Per-Lead (PPL), and Pay-Per-Sale (PPS). These three programs pay a commission to the affiliate member based on a specific action taken by a potential customer. PPC pays for a click on the link; PPL pays only for those website visitors who actually fill out a form indicating their interest in purchasing the merchant’s products or services; while PPS pays for a sale that is generated from clicking on the link.

The most important marketing resource lies in increasing the traffic to a website, which in turn increases the number of people who may click on the affiliate’s link. The best way to increase traffic to your website is by writing informative and effective content. This information should use keywords that describe the product or service you are promoting through your affiliate program. This is so that when people search for information with these keywords, they should come across a website having not only the information that they need, but also a link to your website.

Visitor’s that click on your link, may become a potential customer for your product or service, so the main intention of this content is to draw as much traffic to your website and to get as many clicks to your link. This is indeed a great marketing resource.

It is always better to practice affiliate marketing through websites with cookies. If you use cookies, you can program your website so that the script reads the cookie, in order to identify repeat visitors. Make it a point to disable smart tags on your web page, because these smart tags allow only some websites to place their links on other websites. To get rid of this inconvenience, disable the smart tag and add a Meta tag to your website.

Some visitors do not approve of affiliate link’s because they think that the page was created just to drive traffic to the affiliate link, in order to avoid this, and to avoid any other risk, it is best to camouflage your links with a simple code. Though making printouts of pages with frames is rather difficult, framing your links proves to be a great affiliate marketing resource.

You can also use inline frames on your website to keep up traffic. Inline frames are the best choice for people who do not like frames. With inline frames, the website owner, and the affiliate are able to mask their affiliate links, thus retaining traffic to their website. With this feature, you can also maintain the current design of your website.

Business cards are another great marketing resource. Though the affiliate program is online, it is not necessary that its promotion remain online. You can promote your affiliate program offline, with business cards, or other forms of advertising like flyers.

Another great way to get your message out there is by sending Ecards to potential buyers. When sending an Ecard aim should be to make your message interesting and attractive to stand out from the junk mail that people receive. You could use witty, bold headlines to attract the reader’s attention. The reason Ecards work is because people like receiving things, and upon seeing an Ecard in their mailbox, they will be curious enough to find out what is in the card.

Besides, Ecard providers usually have a tracking service where you will be informed when your card is opened. You can then get an idea of how effective your follow up campaign is. However, use Ecards only on special occasions and not too repetitively. Use short and appealing messages in the Ecards. Finding free Ecards is not difficult on the internet as there are many different Ecard websites, and this will ultimately save you money.

You could also develop trust and confidence with your affiliates by writing a newsletter. Create a newsletter that is interesting, fun and upbeat. Adding a few articles will make it more appealing with perhaps a few references as usable tools. You could include information of affiliates achieving milestones like “Top 100″ placement; and include wishes with a reward if possible to the affiliate.

There is no difference on the number of affiliates you have in your program; the effects the newsletter produces is the same. With the right wording, you can make a small team look big through your newsletter. Remember, it is mainly interest and trust that is developed through affiliates with a newsletter. Also make announcements of anything new and exciting that would be of interest to your clients.

It is always better to have an auto responder in your affiliate program where you can send messages to a group of people quckly. These auto responders usually can only send text messages; but it is the best choice for distributing newsletters and special announcements you may have. You can also distribute HTML documents with an auto responder, which makes your written communication look more interesting and attractive.

While all of these ideas are great, the main secret to affiliate success lies in follow up. There is no point in just starting an affiliate program, without giving it any follow up. If you want to run a successful affiliate program you must constantly keep your affiliates and your customers informed of what is going on.

Working From Home for Your Family

The main reason a lot of us work is to provide the best for our families. We go through the toil of everyday office work and pull overtime, then head back home at the end of each long day for some well deserved quality time with our spouse and children, enjoying the fruit of our labors. This is a familiar pattern for all of us.

Unfortunately, this cycle has actually led to quite a few tragedies. Some of us get stressed out and tired from work to the point that when we finally manage to get home, we’re too exhausted to spend any real time with our kids. Or other times, our spouse and kids feel neglected because we spend so much time away from home. We slowly become strangers in our own abodes, the one place where we’re supposed to find our greatest peace and stability.

This trend has led to quite a few people leaving their secure desk jobs and working from home via the internet. The main point behind this trend is to be able to spend time at home, taking care of your family, yet still earn enough to give them a comfortable lifestyle. Most people still working in corporate circles are afraid of taking this jump, thinking that they won’t be able to provide for their families without the benefit of a regular paycheck.

The fact of the matter is, there ARE quite a few people who are unable to sustain a home business. But there are far greater numbers of people who CAN. It’s simply a matter of deciding which is right for you.

One advantage of working from home is that it cuts down on the expenses, since you won’t be spending for gas or bus fare going to and from work, as well as the cutback on laundry costs since you won’t have to pick out a business suit every day. Then, of course, if you get hungry there’s always the kitchen. You also get more time to actually do your work, since you don’t have anything in the way of travel time, so you can spend as much time as you want on your home business.

Sadly, it is this same increase in freedom and time that becomes the main reason a lot of home businesses fail; without any set deadlines or quotas, or a boss watching over them all the time, some people develop a tendency to slack off, not realizing that their home business IS a business and should be treated as such, professionally.

If you think you can maintain a professional work attitude despite working in shorts and a shirt, and with the beer in the fridge oh so conveniently in reach, then you can go ahead and try a home ebusiness. If you know yourself enough to frankly admit you need someone to crack the whip over your head from time to time, stay with your regular job.

Now, assuming you decide to go into a home business, what do you do? The first thing is to explore your options. Do something you’re good at or that you like doing, preferably both. Do research online to see what types of ebusinesses or freelance online jobs fit your profile, and expand your education by taking online courses.

Then, before quitting your day job, check the feasibility of that particular line of work. As the old proverb goes, There’s no use selling ice to an Eskimo. If you feel that your ebusiness is something you can handle AND will turn a decent profit, go for it.

One last bit: don’t expect overnight results and don’t get discouraged when they don’t happen. Like any business, momentum is built slowly until word spreads about you and your product/service, and only when it stabilizes can you expect some decent returns. Once you get your ebusiness stable and know it’s ins and outs, THEN you’ll find that you are spending large amounts of time with your family and giving them the best in life as well. Some people who run their own ebusinesses even pull their spouse and kids into it to help with family bonding, and to teach their kids responsibility.
